DAZEL Express

DAZEL Corporation

Virtually every client application creates final form output that needsto be printed, faxed or sent to a remote destination. Users often needto send information to multiple people, some via printers, others viafax, and some via electronic mail or page. In some cases, the desireddestination is a device for which no driver has been installed. Thesetasks need to be done by almost every end user, but users have not beenable to easily accomplish them. With DAZEL Express, users have thefreedom and flexibility to deliver what they want, when they want it,where they want it. Users can easily browse for needed outputdestinations, send documents to multiple destination types, and getnotification of job completion or problems, all through a graphical, dragand drop interface. DAZEL Express acts as a client to the DAZEL OutputServer. The DAZEL Output Server is a UNIX-based system that acts as thedelivery core for the DAZEL Output Management System. This server- basedapproach provides a common set of services enabling unified access to andcentralized control of output processes and resources enterprise-wide.Output Destination/Vendor Independence With DAZEL Express, the user orclient application does not format the final form output and drive theoutput device directly. Instead, the formatted output is sent to theDAZEL Output Server which handles the required translation anddistribution to the desired destination(s). Destinations represent theavailable output resources, such as printers, faxes, e-mail, pagers, andfile servers. Delivery Output is sent to the DAZEL Output server in oneof three ways. MS Windows users can deliver documents from within anyclient application using the File-Print menu option. Documents ordocument groups can be dragged and dropped from within DAZEL Expressonto a target destination. And UNIX users can deliver from existingMotif or command line based applications. Job Tracking Users can tracktheir jobs through the delivery process to find out if the job has beencompleted, is waiting to be delivered, or is still processing. Duringthe job life cycle, jobs can be paused, deleted, resumed, moved andresubmitted to other destinations. With DAZEL Express, users receive thebenefit of flexible access to all corporate output resources. Fromwithin the DAZEL Express application or their favorite Windowsapplications, users can reliably deliver the right information to theright destination, when they need it, where they need it.
